Aspiring IT professional building hands-on systems and networking experience.

I finished a BS in Computer Science and Engineering at Santa Clara University in June 2026, after an earlier BS in Biology at UC Riverside. Along the way I did hardware security research, wrote a compiler, and built and debugged enough systems to know that the part I enjoy most is the part where something doesn't work yet and someone needs it to.

That's what pointed me at IT support and network administration. I'm currently studying for CompTIA A+ with Network+ queued next, enrolled in the Network System Administrator I certification at Antelope Valley College through JT4's Jump Start program, and building a home lab where I can set up, break, and fix the same services I'd be responsible for on the job: a Windows Server domain controller, DNS, DHCP, and domain-joined clients on a Proxmox host.

Day to day I work at Best Buy as a Retail Sales Specialist, which is a steady supply of real people with real technical problems and no patience for jargon. Before that I spent two years as an emergency department scribe in a Level II trauma center, documenting in real time under HIPAA. Both turn out to be good practice for a help desk.
